Although DIIV had previous efforts in shoegaze, none of them was as memorable as this album. Deceiver doesn't just rely on the fuzzy and reverbed-out guitar tone and pitch bends, as there are great dynamics and ridiculously catchy choruses around the vocal and guitar melody as they weave around each other.
This album is ethereal, warm, melancholic and bittersweet.
